Who We Are

Athina Fassu, Chair

Athina Fassu moved to the United States (Hamilton, NJ) in October of 2005 from Cameroon and was a proud resident until 2019. She Graduated from Steinert High School in 2013 and continued her academic endeavors at Rider University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and American Studies in 2017.

Her political career started with an internship for Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo in the spring of 2016. Athina then started her first political job at The Middlesex County Democratic Organization as an Assistant. Then she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Assembly Majority Office for two years. She later joined the office of Assemblyman Anthony S. Verrelli for a year. Most recently, she served as Legislative Director to Assemblyman Wayne P. DeAngelo.

In April of 2019 Athina successfully rebooted the Mercer County Young Democrats and was elected as Chair. She continues to serve as Chair. In 2020 she was named Young Leader of the Year by the Mercer County Democratic Committee. She was named a Rising Star on the InsiderNJ’s 100 Millennials List. She was also awarded 30 under 30 Trendsetter Award by SNJ Millennials in 2022.

Athina is currently a Senior Legislative Aide II to Governor Phil Murphy and resides in Ewing.

Brianna Hill, Vice Chair

Brianna has previously served as a member of the Executive Board for two terms, the first as the Outreach Chair as well as the Events Chair.

Brianna currently works at the New Jersey Economic Development Authority as a Team Lead for Economic Equity. She previously held a position as Vice President at the Advocacy and Management Group in Trenton for seven years.

She also serves in the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women and the RWJ Hamilton Young Professionals Group.

Brianna is a life long Mercer resident, having moved back to her hometown in Hamilton where she currently resides with her son, Parker and husband, Sasha.

Andrew McAllister, Secretary

Andrew McAllister grew up in Jackson, New Jersey before attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Michigan. After getting his PhD in applied physics, he returned to his home state as part of the first class of Rutgers Eagleton Science and Politics Fellows. During the fellowship, he worked in the Assembly Majority Office. He now serves as assistant director for member development and technology where he continues to staff committees and work on legislation for the Assembly Democratic caucus. Since moving back to New Jersey, he has lived in Mercer County.

Addison Hinrichs, Political Chair

Andrew McAllister grew up in Jackson, New Jersey before attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Michigan. Jordan Lewis, Outreach Chair

Jordan Lewis is the District Director at the Office of Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman. In this role, he oversees constituent service operations, outreach programming and legislative initiatives. He started as a Constituent Service Representative and then moved on to serve as the Director of Constituent Services. As the Director of Constituent Services, he oversaw casework operations and outreach initiatives. His hometown is Ewing, NJ, and he was born on July 18, 1990. Jordan received his Master’s of Public Affairs & Administration at Rutgers University, Newark, NJ in 2022. In 2014, Jordan received his Bachelor’s of Science in Criminology at the Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC. He has been recognized as a 2020 Alumni of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute (CBCI) in Washington, DC. and has served as the NJ D-12 District Agent, of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) scholarship program since 2019.

Jordan is passionate for public relations and public service. His hobbies include: biking, Reading, Research, public advocacy, operational planning.

Larry Traylor, Treasurer

Larry is currently the Aide for Mercer County Commissioner Samuel T Frisby Sr. Before joining the Commissioner Board, Larry worked on the Murphy 2021 Reelection Campaign as a Compliance Associate and volunteered with Assemblyman Dan Benson’s office. He is currently the Treasurer of the Mercer County Young Democrats and a member of the 2023 class of New Leaders Council. His future goals are to attend graduate school and study socio-economic inequalities that can help improve the conditions of the most marginalized within our society. Larry graduated from Rutgers University-New Brunswick in 2020, where he studied Political Science and African American Studies.
